When you say a "tolerance," do you mean I won't physically feel the same effects? Or is it one of those mental games that some drugs trick your brain into thinking you have a tolerance? Because if its a mental tolerance, that I can overcome. But if my body physically requires more and more to feel the same effects as I do now at 500mg, you're right I might have to stop using phenibut.
Drug tolerance is a direct product of decreased sensitivity to the compound by reducing membrane receptor expression and or translocation, and also sometimes by inducing inhibitory metabolic enzymes.
