Acutely, ACh from the PSNS causes vasodilation and erection. Chronically, ACh will cause constriction. Furthermore, nicotine will upregulate PDE5, which degrades cGMP that causes dilation and subsequent erection. PDE5 is what Viagra and such inhibit to induce their actions.
