Thanks for sharing your experiences. I encourage you to share images because it would probably make the story and its lessons more vivid.
What you did was really awesome.
i'll post some pictures to the thread tonight with more details and i'll explain the pictures.

Looked like you had a blast based on facebookpics/snaps.
Nice to see that they seemed to help you as much as you helped them aswell!
But!
Did you teach them about IIFYM?
Yes, i had an amazing time.
hahah, i was more focused on just getting them food in general....
BUT slightly off topic, when i FIRST got there, there was a guy that worked for the "hotel" we stayed at and he was building us a giant bonfire on the beach. dude looked ridiculous. probably 5'9-'5'10 170-175+ lbs and 6-8% bf. He was shredded and looked sick.
One of my friends on the trip said the guy brought him to his house, and to work-out he had some sketchy pulley system. and a bench with a bar with 5 gallon buckets filled with cement.

Hard to say if going on such a "mission" trip would have any impact on me. I mean I'm sure id enjoy the trip and love the experience of helping out, but would it change who I am when I come back home? Doubtful.
I'm mid 20's...It's not like I would quit my job and become a missionary full time...I already know I am better off than the majority of the world...
Knowing that you're better off then most of the world just isn't real until you live it. it's worth it man, if you ever get the opportunity, go for it.
I would actually be tempted to do this full time, i can't imagine anything else being more fulfilling, and few things being more meaningful.
