ventricular hypertrophy can cause a decrease in left ventricular stroke volume, leading to compensation to maintain SYS bp by chronically elevated HR especially when myocardium hypertrophies in such a way that the fibers become misaligned and contractile force decreases. it doesnt necessarily have to be symptomatic, often times cardiac failure due to HCM in young individuals is the first symptom of the disease.

e: yeah no i agree he could just be reading his HR wrong, or double counting by accident. thats why i said get a physician to check him out. it could be nothing but if theres a risk of HCM and he fits the demographic then why not find out about it

No, because resting heart rates are lower in athletes due to this physiological hypertrophy, fibers would become misaligned in any sort of pathological myopathy giving rise to symptoms.

As I said earlier, resting blood pressure would be increased in any sort of pathological cardiomyopathy. This is physiological . The only way to know for sure is with an EKG, and BP which he can't measure.

besides, it's not tachycardia if one out of six readings was abnormal. Also there are many factors that lead to tachycardia besides hypertrophic myopathies.

OP is not going to die from this misreading.

yes athletes have lower resting HR's but when the hypertrophy is genetic and restricting of SV the decrease in HR might be obscured by constant sympathetic drive to maintain a normal BP. im not saying his BP isnt high, and im not saying its tach. familial myopathy can be exacerbated by weightlifting (or sporting) activity in youth, restrict SV, cause elevated HR and dysrhythmia, alter BP, and lead to sudden cardiac failure. im also not saying he has this, but under the assumption that his readings were chronically tachycardic then this is opened up as an option and an echo might be used to diagnose myopathy

e: i wasnt trying to diagnose i was just suggesting that as a risk if his numbers were actually accurate, in which case its something to check out

60-80 is the normal range. Below that are extremely fit individuals or people with low blood pressure etc.

Over 80 is high. Could be high blood pressure, problems with your heart, maybe a high caffeine diet etc.

Resting heart rate can be around 65-70 for me, upto slightly over 80 at parts of the day. I consider that to be a little high, so at like 110 I think you should look into it more.

80-100 is actually high, although the original scale was 60-100

Jesus you're a moron
though that's average/normal, most people in this forum are going to lift and run/be in the shape. Those norm values are for sedentary populations
stop the madness
