My goals specifically is to cut fat. As for Carb Cycling- I said earlier that I eat very little Carbs (mostly all come from Fruits, Veggies, Greek Yogurt, Whey Shake), but I don't think I'd be able to do Keto. I figured Carb Cycling just because I know I'd be able to do it and stick with it & because I have hit a plateau for a bit and want to change it up.

When you say you don't think you'd be able to do keto, why? Discipline? Food Variety?

The reason I say this is because Keto is MUCH more effective than carb cycling. There are also various forms of carb cycling we can do for you, even those conjoined with intermittent fasting (IF), if you're interested.

So that being said, if keto is an absolute no-go, for carb cycling, are you looking for something flexible or are you interesting in the intermittent fasting version?

I just don't think discipline wise.... I eat around a bag of salad one day which is already 11ish carbs + one protein shake (optimum nutrition) is 8g carbs and those two things alone bring me to about 20g of carbs... and then I can't have any other intake the rest of the day basically

i'm looking for something kind of flexible (considering I'm going to be working 40 hrs a week this summer) but something that will be effective. I see that you really thing Keto will be the most effective, what are the MAX carbs I can have a day doing Keto?

Carbs for the day on keto should NOT include fiber. That means, if you eat a protein bar that has 15g carbs, but 10 of them are from fiber, the total carbs are 5 (NOT 15).

That being said, if your salad has 15 net carbs (after fiber) you probably want to change into a green salad and skip the carrots/tomatoes/onions/etc. As far as the shake goes, I just checked the ON Natural Whey and found that it contains (in 2 scoops) 10 g actual carbs. This is WAY too high.

Switch to something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Whey-Protein-Isolate-Packaging/dp/B0015AQL1Q/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462800248&sr=1-1&keywords=now+whey

I highly recommend NOW! Whey Isolate to everyone on a cut. Extremely high quality protein, nothing artificial, and approximately 1g of carbs for a 50g protein shake.

If you still want to carb cycle, let me know and I'll throw something together for you. But if your interests have been piqued by keto, I will gladly put you on the CKD Train.

If you believe that CKD is really that much better than a carb cycle - we can try that. I would just need some examples of meals and what my macros should be.

and also- if we do go with CKD, I would start next week but the weekend is my sisters wedding and I know I can't stay true to the diet during that. So would it make more sense to start AFTER the wedding?

how can i make myself competitive? i've never had the drive to win competitions, to be better than anyone else, try to convince people my opinion is right, or had ambition. it's impacted my school, dating, and career. most recently i started playing chess again online. but as soon as the game stops being interesting, i resign and move on. so i haven't won a game in long time since i resign instead of checkmating the opponent. i'm the only chess player i know who does that, so i dont think it's normal.

how long should i stay on the stronglifts 5x5 routine? i started at a very low weight, either just the barbell or 25's on most exercises. it has now been 4-5 weeks. i hear most people do it for 12 weeks, but should i just go until i can't make any more progress? i see it taking a lot more than 12 weeks for that.
i build a basement gym and i have a power rack, an incline decline bench, 2 bars, and weight plates. so i chose to go back to this routine because i don't have as much access to other machines as i did at my standard gym with membership
thanks ray!
here is a picture of my setup http://i.imgur.com/h28WDM5.jpg i have to get more plates very soon, im about to max out what i have (only 255) :(

Not everyone can do Keto. Depends on body types. As far as macros go, carbs are carbs some people can get ripped on pop tarts others on sweet potato.
