You are right about that statement.
However, the extra few inches into deep mode are not worth the excess patellar strain. Eventually the contractive gain will be slight.
Powelifters need full RoM to meet contest requirements. Hyp trainees do not. This is the sole exercise where the biomechanic disadvantage of the given joint at full contraction offers too much strain in return for its merit.

Not that I'm under any impression a person who squats once every blue moon will see any sort of notable sarcoplasmic gain, but that is a tale for another time.

I see. is this something that you've changed your stance on? I thought before you had said that the strain was minimal and it was still worth it to go deep. I could however be making that completely up.

Is the strain something that will build up to an injury over time, or is it something that just has a chance of injuring you at some given time?

very confused right now :s

I was under the impression that there's a significant difference between a few inches above parallel and parallel because of the use of hip flexors and more posterior chain.

/pretending like I know what I'm talking about

edit: the video is not for the sake of the lift's numbers... it's just for form check / update

My opinion isn't even stated here. Deep squat is more beneficial overall and more strenuous overall. The two are not mutually exclusive. Critical as it is to contest rules, powerlifters don't have any choice in the matter. The benefit to hypertrophy ranged trainees is marginal yet exists de-facto from the simple principal of full contractive spectrum and MU-R as you've stated priorly.

That is all.
