i imagine i'm at high risk for type 2 diabetes. 100% of people on dad's side of the family had it going back several generations. granted, they were also fat, never exercised, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. but anyway, will consuming sugar increase my risk for diabetes? or is it just the normal problems? ("empty" calories, teeth decay, etc)
i've been using a lot of stevia in the past year and i'm trying to cut down but i still want the sweet flavour. a lot of the baked goods i want also just dont taste the same without brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc.
The more sugar you consume, the higher risk for diabetes. Figure in genetics, exercise level, and total diet for a more comprehensive look.
However, in general, stay away from any more than 30g of sugar per day (preferably from fruit sources only)
