I meant like cues before I can squat. head up, breath, unrack bar. 3 step, raise the upper back, bend the bar, draw ribcage down, breath in, push out obliques, squeeze glutes, then go.

also Just got my wrist wraps in the mail, they are ridiculously stiff, and don't conform to my wrists, they feel like they're made out of cardboard rather than elastic is this normal? how do you break them in, or just use em?

Wow I wouldn't want to be in your head. You should not have to think this every time you setup for a squat. Think between sets no during and look back at the video and try to correct 1 thing not 12...Otherwise you will not progress really fast.

Which ones did you get?

yeah... slowly getting through this mental block. I'm physically unable to squat (won't be able to initiate the hip hinge) unless I do them, it's becoming more and more natural though.

I got the titan thp's, tried on a bunch at my gym and those felt very nice.

And they don't feel as nice or did you bought stiffer one by mistake?

Squat often and for a long time and it will fade. I never had this problem but it's always a work in progress. Each meet prep is better than the one before in term of strength and technique. Throwback in sept 2011 after I started lifting (4½ months in)

imagine wrapping a piece of paper around your wrist, it doesn't countour to the shape of my wrist and the sides dig into my wrist instead of wrap around it.

Yeah, I do 10 minutes of work twice a week just working on that first rep squat, 2 months ago I wasn't even able to squat bodyweight due to that mental block.

2 and a half plate squat 4 and a half months in? very nice =o

I was big into sports. At that time I was half way into my university studies to become a physical educator. Numbers at starts of 5/3/1 (my first prog) were 220x3/170x3/264x3. Technique wasn't there however.

I have flexible wraps that didn't need to be broke.

It's decent but I've seen way better. You'll get at a high level someday if you commit.

I am slowly getting there....slowly.

Those are very easy first year numbers.

Maybe you should reevaluate the amount of thinking you do and just move the weight

I actually don't mean that in a disrespectful way. Just lift and enjoy lifting. Everything in this thread is so over thought.
