the whole basis for economic decisions is satisfaction vs cost. some may value d2 items over getting laid, just because you may find it stupid or lame doesn't mean there isn't a market for it.
yes maybe anyone with a brain can make fg, but requires at the very least time and probably effort. Some may think spending money is worth the time and effort saved.

not necessarily, you could buy d2items with fg and sell the items, or buy irl things from the donor forum (which can be sold).

but even if that were 100% true, i don't think it's a particularly relevant point. idk why buttersdan said 20$, but i do think it's fair to equate money to fg in individual case.

theres say 3 ways to get fg. Earn it, scam it, or buy it. You can put a monetary figure on the amount of time it would take to earn/scam X amount of fg, if you think paul's rates are fair then you'd buy it. Just because there may not be resale value (which there is) doesn't mean it's not worth money.

To use getting laid as an example, you can pay a hooker for an hour of her time. There's obviously no resale value, but i don't think you'd say that since outside of the hour spent it holds no value, it's worthless.
You're essentially paying for the hour of satisfaction you'd get. You buy fg and are paying for the satisfaction you get or the time that would otherwise be spent getting it.
