Yes, it can take quite a while for recovery of torn tendons, depending on the extent of the tear.
anti-inflammatory meds, Ice (30 mins on 30 mins off, 4-6x per day), elevation (basically try not to lay down flat, keep the shoulder higher than the heart), and very light mobility (do not stretch, keep the area only lightly mobile with very basic shoulder movements that do not create severe pain).
Let me know what the specialist says and if surgery is required. Obviously, DON'T LIFT!
edit:
I almost forgot, make sure you continuously take in at least 250g / protein per day to aid in recovery of the area, even though you are not training. In addition, 8-10 hours of sleep per night would be optimal now. Water intake must be high as well, but you already knew that

ty for the tips rayndaddy, here are the scans results
Results:
Moderate widening of the acromioclaicular joint
Mild capsular thickening
Moderate thickening in the subacromial bursa
Heavily altered echogenic texture throught the supra spinous tendon, no evidence of full thickness tear
Remainder of the rotator cuff tendons are fine
anything changed from your healing tips now? my physio wanted me to stretch my pec muscle, and stretch back my shoulder blades as all the muscles have tightened around my shoulder and made it sit forward
just checking cos that is like the opposite of what you said
