I meant if you're upped your frequency rather, like pressing/squatting twice per week etc. People don't realise how your numbers shoot up when you increase frequency lold
what people ACTUALLY dont realize is the proportion of "gains" that can be attributed to neural adaptation rather than muscle mass accumulation
e: also explains why a lot of what you say here:

Yeah, I completely understand it. I'm now implementing some weightlifting exercise to maintain knee health, but I'm definitely not "lifting", nor do I feel like it.
Badminton eh? Guess you still rock climb and swim? Ever thought of trying some martial arts? There are some styles out there which are funny as hell to train

Better routine now probably, eating well, having been working in a very physical work which has probably strengthened your back/legs mainly...
But yeah, anyway. Did you break them on your first week, or have you recovered back your strength?
Whoever speaks about muscle memory got it right; it's true that you gain back your strength much faster than you gain it at first, but the physiological adaptations you induce through strength training disappear in a matter of weeks.
Doing your basics twice per week now?
Chit this shit didn't post.
isnt quite right
