Hey raynor, What are the effects of sodium on the body while cutting?

I just realized im taking in a good amount of sodium from cans of tuna of all things... 600 alone from tuna (2 cans) and i put about 3 tablespoons of mayo, which is about 100 total. so 700 sodium, would that ruin my weight cut at all?

Lets say I hit legs light today..

Did 2 heavy working sets.. What are the implications of that if I have a heavy leg day tomorrow.

Disregarding soreness, I am only looking if it will hinder my ability to lift tomorrow, and my muscle growth... and how much

you can take in up to 2,000 mg of sodium per day with no ill-effect. When taking in much more than this, you risk water retention. Remember to take in at least 1-2x potassium to every 1x sodium.

The muscle tears you create by lifting today will not be fully healed by tomorrow. However, this probably won't affect the growth process much, primarily because today was the light day and tomorrow would be the full day. If that was reversed, it would be much worse.

You're good to go.

what type of symptoms would I have with a real spine injury?

when I unrack the weight on squat I get some pain above my pelvis, to the left of my spine. In addition, when I hang to do spinal decompression I have some lower back discomfort.

Hopefully nothing but I find myself being overly cautious when it comes to my back

Probably no spinal injury.

With regard to the pain, sounds intramuscular. Have you seen a chiropractor at all? If not, I'd recommend it.

Secondly, spinal decompression is normal when hanging from a bar. From when you wake up and start moving around, your spine begins to compress from the weight of your trunk. In addition, you compress it further when lifting weights and performing physical activities. Hanging from a bar (either upside down or right side up) is an excellent way to decompress the spine throughout the day and assist in promoting overall good flexibility.

A true spinal injury would yield tremendous pain, lack of movement, numbness/tingling, etc.

Hello again, Sir Raynor!

I am ~3 weeks into pharmacy school now, and coming up on my first exams. I have missed a couple workout days since starting, but I somewhat expect that to happen.
I'm doing keto Sun-Fri at BMR+Kcal burned(est 500)-500, and alternating Carb/cheat every other Saturday with the same calories.

If I miss a day, is it appropriate to decrease my caloric intake (distributed throughout my meals)? (<-- I have been assuming yes in application) If so, do I decrease it proportionally to my fat/protein intake, or reduce one of them specifically?

I assume my weight is going to plummet more than the caloric deficit can explain, due to water loss. . . will this curb off as the cutting routine continues, or can I expect to be losing (in addition to the 1lb of fat) a few pounds a week consistently?

Okay. . . I swear I had one question, but I come in here and post several. Sorry!

Thank you again, Raynor!

1. If you miss a day....meaning, miss a keto day? As in, eat carbs on the keto day? Or miss a day, with regard to missing the carb/cheat day?

2. The water loss will definitely curb off in time. It usually takes around 6 weeks for the water loss to plateau.

Get back to me about #1, and I will give you a proper answer. Thanks

Hey Raynor, I'm going to be "done" cutting in approx 2 weeks and 2 days. However, I don't really know how to identify when I should stop cutting. One would think the obvious answer is "when you're at your desired body fat percentage". However, wouldn't it be best to stop cutting after a certain amount of time? Things are going slowly now; I can see more definition overall, but I'm not getting enough definition yet. I'm ramping the cut up in 2 days and going down to 1600-1700 calories per day with cardio every day, so I should see up to 4 pounds of fat loss in those 2 weeks if I do everything exactly right.

Basically I'm wondering if you could analyse my status in 2 weeks time (just a basic progress picture), and tell me what you think I should be doing. My current weight is 173 pounds (I'm 5'10")... at the start of my last bulk I was about 178 pounds and ended at 191 pounds.

Anyway, just looking for general guidance on how to determine whether it is more beneficial to get back into a bulk... and I'm wondering whether in 2 weeks I could provide a progress picture and stats in order to get an unbiased opinion on what I should do (and also to know whether I have been productive with my cut or not based on the comparison between my bulk and my cut progress pics).

Thanks.

Ah sorry. You would think with all of my blathering on, I would provide you with the needed information.

I meant if I miss working out one day. ie. I don't have those 500 calories of exercise, should I adjust my intake for that day?

Thanks again!
