Raynor,

What do you think about when people tell you they want to be a strength coach or a personal trainer? What is your opinion on these career paths and do you have any advice in this field?

These fields have become very easy to get into and as a result many people pursue careers in these paths.

Generally, you can become successful doing anything you truly love and put your mind and efforts to - however, as a broad stroke of the brush, these career paths don't offer that much in the way of steady income.

I would always advise backup plans for education, and at the very least, secondary employment to go along with it.

when i fry ground beef, i rinse it with water a few times until the water is clear to help remove the fat. i buy 90/10 or better beef. do you have any idea how much fat gets removed this way? im guessing maybe half?

Depends.

In already cooked + drained + blotted beef, a warm water rinse will reduce the fat by around 50%.

If you are water rinsing PRIOR to frying, you won't do anything more than saturate the beef with water.

is there a reason why you say not to squat? my knees feel bad when i dont squat for a while, but when i squat they feel good again. natural sunlight wont be an option soon as winter is coming up for me. i'm just wondering if tanning is really as bad as they make it out to be, or is it okay if used in moderation.

Moderation for tanning would be fine. No more than 30 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a week on maximum.

Squatting puts a tremendous amount of stress on the knees, with particular attention to the surrounding ligaments and tendons. If you already have knee problems, squatting more with cause further inflammation and eventually permanent damage.

Leg pressing achieves virtually the same range of motion but with much less stress on the knees. Always wear knee wraps regardless.

hey rayndaddy how are the ladies nom saiyen?

anyway, i read through this thread and catch up on shit with others peoples questions etc, its always helpful,

few pages back someone mentioned GABA,

was doing my own research, came across this statement

Taking GABA may either increase or decrease human growth hormone (HGH)

what the..? here is the link http://weight-loss.emedtv.com/gaba/benefits-of-gaba.html

what do u think? do you only take your GABA for the calming / sleep aid?

I personally use GABA and recommend it to those who have enough money for a proper sleep stack.

The studies of GABA reducing GH levels is preposterous. All real studies of GABA have shown a small increase of GH, and some increases in insulin. Most parties reported better sleep and more restful sleep.

I would recommend it as the side effects are non-existant. Don't overdo it though, stick to the base dosage.

I'm 24. 5'11' 164 pounds. No idea on body fat but I'm pretty thin and have athletic build

I've been doing p90x ab routine w my workout 3-5 times a week for four months now. The strength in my abs and "hardness" has increased significantly. However my tone looks the same.
Any tips on how to get the abs to show well?
I eat pretty healthy but maybe I'm still doing it wrong?
Breakfast is 3-6 hard boiled eggs with a cup of oatmeal.
Lunch is usually some form of chicken whether it's home grilled breasts or subway etc. Subway is typically as unhealthy as it gets
I still live at home and my mom is a chef  she cooks pretty healthy meals for dinner usually.
Snacks include honey oak nature valley bars, Quaker oat bars, awful soy protein and sugar alcohol detour protein bars (all I have right now) and almonds raw.
Sometimes I eat cereal to cure my sweet tooth . Also choabni yogurts with salba added.  With breakfast ir as snack I also have banana  strawberries and or blueberries/ red grapes.

I take two fish oil NOW and one multi NOW daily.  I sometimes take NOW protein after workout if I feel I have gone hard enough to justify it.
I have NOW creatine as recommended by you but haven't started jt because I haven't plateaued yet.

I drink water exclusively almost. Weekends I have a few drinks but nothing out of control.

Should I be running some? I don't want to negatively affect my muscle construction but am ignorant as to the affects of combining run and lift.

Maybe I just need to go harder and stick to it? I can feel each ab very strong. It just looks like a slim persons tummy as opposed to a  person that works out their abs tummy.
If I flex my stomach I can pinch a seal thumb and index full of skin.

I get about 5.5-6.5 hours of sleep a night typically. Maybe not recovering enough...

Several issues here:

1. Too many carbs/sugars
2. Not enough protein
3. Not enough sleep
4. Too many total calories
5. Maybe not enough total water (1 gal a day minimum)
6. Unknown fats....need more info here.

I would increase protein, decrease carbs - especially sugars, and get your calories 500 cals below your BMR. Do a quick BMR calculator online and figure out what you need, subtract 500 cals, and then do your p90x on top of that. You need to lose enough bf to be around 6-9% in order to get those abs showing the way you want.

Any ways to raise test.

Quote (xXCrAzYsHoT @ Sep 13 2012 06:52am)
Oh and what are some examples that you might have low test.

Low test levels might include:

1. Lack of body and facial hair
2. High voice
3. Gyno
4. Inability to gain muscle, very slow gains to muscle
5. disproportionate fat deposits in chest/hips
6. apathy and lack of motivation for anything physical
7. constantly feeling tired

ways to increase test:

1. Avoid soy products at all costs
2. Increase protein intake to 1.5g per pound of bodyweight, particularly from red meat (try to eat 1 serving of beef 6 days a week minimum)
3. increase strength training (5 days a week, 1 hour a day minimum)
4. Decrease beer consumption, cigarette smoking or eliminate it all together.
5. Increase sleep to 8 hours a night.
6. Take natural products to help increase test production such as Tribulus - try NOW! Testojack

Other methods:

1. See a sports medicine doctor and endocrinologist to analyze your blood and see your test levels. if you are low, they will prescribe you testosterone injections and/or androgel.

2. Pro hormone cycling. I can not officially support this in the forums, so you will need to find help with this elsewhere.

TRT is not a bad thing....with proper dosage it can be VERY beneficial in terms of lean gains. If you are already low, it won't cause the issue of production problems, as you already would be dependent on it. Quite frankly, it simplifies things a lot. Just like a diabetic using insulin, using test becomes a ritual you get accustomed to.

With TRT (testosterone replacement therapy, i asssume), i've heard that it is relatively safe in order to raise test levels to "normal". Would doing this have any effect on possible testicular atrophy, and other side effects of AAS?
In other words, would only using testosterone therapy (under the supervision of a physican) to raise test levels to 'normal" be any way harmful to the body?
