Also a question..a relative has pain in her hand, mostly during the night. The pain was described to me as when a limb falls asleep and then the burning feeling that follows, when you move it(the 'fire ant' feeling). However, she is sure that it isn't falling asleep. Also, it hurts even when she does not move it(unlike when it falls asleep and only hurts when you move it).

That sounds like acute peripheral neuropathy. Has she seen a doctor yet? I would highly recommend she get checked out asap

You also might want to have her try ice and heat and see if either of them makes the hand feel better....this can sometimes lead onto a conclusion faster.
