Hey there.
I started having some knee pain after running ended up going to the physical therapist today - it appears I have patellar tendinitis, he said it was due to not properly stretching before and after running. By chance do you have any videos / other sources on what "perfect" stretching for warm up/cool down would be?
I disagree with PRE-workout stretching. Most sources and studies have confirmed that this actually increases the risk of injury. You should do a warm-up which is a light jog for around 3-5 minutes prior to a run. After doing that begin the run as usual. You should also get fitted for proper running shoes that are built specifically for your skeletal structure, stride, and gait. I would also take the time to stretch AFTER the run which is very helpful.
The stretches you want to do are all the regular ones: toe touches, butterflies, standing behind the back leg stretch, front knee bends, lunges, side-straddles, etc.
