two things
1) You are overgeneralizing crossfit. I simply used their facilities equipment and jumped into some of the workouts that seemed fun.
Primarily there for heavy olympic lifting and never did body weight exercises or millions of reps or long distance running (furthest was 1mile and that wasnt even straight)
Yo Oak you're close to Tampa... if you're ever in town you should check out this dude name Raphael Ruiz (my gf calls him Raph/Raff) and see if you can get a workout in at his gym. She talks about him ALL the time and compares any gym or coach to him since he's the gold standard.
He worked with her in soccer at University of Tampa, worked with other sports as well as pro athletes. I guess he built up a huge program, enlisted the help of tons of disciplines (just noticed my gf's dad is one of those MDs

), and claims his program "is the constant evolution of one of the most comprehensive, orthopaedically sound, scientifically based and performance driven training systems." I know you've dabbled in some cross fit and I guess this stuff is similar but without the crossfit culture bs. She swears this guy is basically the guru of training hands down. So you might be interested in checking it out one day.
From what I'm getting from her, he's not a crossfit trainer but his workouts are similar to that style. Lots of olympic lifts. She also says he trained the nfl eagle player who founded crossfit football but in reality Raph was the one who developed his programs and then he let the player tag his name and crossfit onto it.
This is actually my first time checking out his site in this post.
