What do you know about musclepharm? Have you ever used their products? if so, what has been your experience with it? if not, have you heard any bad or sketchy issues?

similar to muscletech. Mostly advertising and hype. Overrated products with a ton of artifical colors/flavors/sweeteners.

all garbage compared to many alternatives.

sheesh i just ordered their bulletproof (recovery) and assault ( pre workout)

i usually use black coffee for pre workout, and sleep for recovery. Still going to get 8 hours a night but i wanted to try something new, spent $70 total.

What are some alternative that you mentioned for recovery?

You suggested that someone new to weight lifting should have about 8-12 months of strength training before doing anything else. So I was wondering if since I do not have the suggested 8-12 months of strength training should I still cut? Or should I totally forget about cutting this spring/summer and continue with my strength program until I have done 8-12 months of it?

Can I still do the 5x5 strength program while cutting? How does the diet change? (wanna cut cause season)

I've also been wondering this, is Glutamine actually worth the money? I've been considering taking it again, I think it might have helped when I took it last but it might have been the placebo effect.

I seem to get into ketosis fairly quickly.

Sunday was my carb day, Monday morning I tested negative for ketosis, and this morning I tested high levels.

Is this based on my genetics or diet primarily? Im keeping carbs to no more than 15-20 a day. Big part is fiber.

Am I doing it right?

Lucky guy. I'm 3 days in and still negative. When is best to test? I usually do it after I wake up, and my first piss after a workout. BTW raynor I stopped eating anything with carbs in it. Except broccoli, peppers and lettuce. But still not in ketosis. What the shit.

Eat and Sleep.

I am being 100% serious about this. The best recovery is derived from a proper post-workout meal (also PWO shake) and a lot of sleep. Also don't forget plenty of water!

You can cut first. The basis of the 5x5 training is after you are at a semi low BF% and you begin to bulk. If you start to bulk when you are already over the 15% body fat area, you will get considerably heavier and thus not optimally aesthetically pleasing.

Cut first, 5x5 after, then hypertrophy after your first year.

Yes and No.

Most protein shakes already have a lot of glutamine. Chicken breast also has a ton of glutamine. You can try 10g of pure glutamine with your PWO shake if you really deplete yourself at the gym. It's decent, maybe 5% or so benefit over just a regular shake.
