I've heard it said that simply having more muscle burns more calories, but the BMR calculators don't ask for the body fat percentage. is there any truth in that?

Yes. More muscle means more more caloric burn. Don't figure that when doing BMR though. If you are bulking, you are going 300-500 cals over maintenance and if you are cutting you're going 300-500 cals under. This considers the extra cals burned from additional lean mass.

Yeah it was like 2030 or so but I met it, I am consuming 2900 calories today and lifted weights, so I am good to go as far as gaining muscle and losing fat? This kind of program will work correct? 3 days a week calorie surplus, lifting weights, 4 days a week calorie deficit losing fat around a 900 calorie deficit as well.

yes that will work nicely for a VERY slow cut and also slow muscle gain.

Thanks so much man, you're so helpful, glad to have you around.

Is say 9 pounds lost (fat) and 6-7 pounds gained (muscle) reasonable for about 3 months on that program? I'm doing all the compound lifts I need to be doing.

I don't like his approach. For years doctors have been prescribing topical meds to fix skin problems. I feel that this is a temporary crutch and deals with the symptoms rather than the cause of the issue. I would avoid using that unless your case is so severe than you really have no other choice. Was my skincare guide not helping you? If it was not, you may have food sensitivities or even a hormonal/chemical imbalance which might have to be regulated in other ways.

let me know!

Yeah I followed you're acne guide and I was thinking it was a hormonal imbalanced the whole time but I'm not sure.

I have heard apple cider vinegar can help with ketosis... Any validity to this?

That might be a bit excessive in the muscle gain area. Remember, 10 lbs of lean gains per year is generally what you can expect in your 2nd-4th years of lifting.

edit:

you will definitely lose around 1/2-3/4 lb of fat per week though.

Have you considered seeing an endrocrinologist? I think it might be a good idea at this point. Get full bloodwork and see what they suggest in regard to your acne situation.

Yes and no. It supports an alkaline environment in the body, so technically it will assist you. Thus why I recommend ACV on salads. However, too much can be a bad thing as well, causing too much of an alkaline environment which will leave you feeling sick. A few tbsp per day is good enough.

Yes that is correct. However I'd recommend 40/30/30 for a cut more than a 40/40/20. Both are fine, but I found that lower carbs seems to help.

Right my mistake.
My routine is looking like a 5x5 mon tues thurs fri (hitting all 4 major compounds) with fasted cardio(light) on 2-3 of my off days.

Any modifications or suggestions on this?
