hey raynor, can you enlighten me on the various types of workouts and what they are used for?

things im looking for:

1. full body workout vs splits when do you do each?

2. when doing splits what is the goal when breaking down days (is there a min number of days required to do them, do they need to be done in multiples of 2 days)?

3. when cutting is full body or splits better?

4. what are pros/cons of full vs split

5. also ive seen you post back workouts on say a wednesday followed by a leg workout on thursday, from what ive heard leg day uses alot of back muscles, how much effect does that take on the leg workout?

6. is hypertrophy done mainly for the aesthetics look? from what ive read about it, that seems to be what it does, just makes the muscle look bigger not exactly stronger. is this true?

7. finally when doing hypertrophy, is there a best way to do it (full vs splits)?

thanks in advance! and i appreciate all the help you give to this forum. really is an awesome source of knowledge.

1. full body workouts are for very moderate lifters and people looking for simply exercise and not much in the way of muscular gains. Single muscle groups or 2-muscle group splits are best for mass building.

2. There is no such requirement. I think you are confusing splits with hypertrophy

3. Again, full body should be avoided unless you are striving for mediocrity.

4. There is no pro to full-body. It burns calories like any other workout, and also helps build a very small amount of muscle. But in general, full body workouts do not hold a candle to anything else.

5. Legs day and back day are fine to be within 24 hours of each other. If you train legs properly you will use minimal amounts of your back.

6. hypertrophy is for gaining size/volume instead of pure strength and density.

7. hypertrophy plan has been listed before. I will post again for you. It's a split. I never recommend full body anything.

Would doing this ontop of my regular workout be overkill?  I really don't want my numbers to go down while I train for this Fit test

Yes it would be overkill. You regular numbers won't go down much. If anything they might increase if you do this. Consider it a shock deload. Your muscles might appreciate it.

seems like a dumb question, but is drinking vegetable smoothies (blended with blender) exactly same as eating the same amount of veggies? I drank shitton the past couple of days, and my crap was light to dark green the next two days. Feels like I crapped all of it out lmao

It's almost the same thing. The color is from the concentration of veggies you ate. After all veggies reduce when you blend them compared to when you eat them normally.

i was told i should drink a muscle milk after i work out
is this true?

Depends.

Muscle milk is OK...but certainly not the best protein supplement out there.

I'd stick to something better like Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex Natural, or NOW! Whey Protein

hey ray,

what does glycolic acid do for acne? also would you recommend it?

I would not use it. There have been a lot of reports of skin damage from using glycolic acid peels.

for the best way to control acne, follow this guide:

excellent thanks man.

oh and i see alot of people that swear to doing just compound exercises and laughing at the thought of doing any isolated workouts. i know youve said before we should go for balance. why do people swear by just compounds and why should iso's be included?

I'm looking to buy a belt that will most likely last me forever .

I'm sure you have heard of them

http://www.inzernet.com/detailbelt.asp?PRODUCTID=FOREVERLEVER10MM

What do you think of the forever lever inzer belt?

It's 67$ pus shipping.  Reasonable I guess
Only thing that sucks is it takes like 2-4 weeks
And I been reading their customer service blows

What you think?
When measuring your size for a belt.  Do you go by the circumference of your waist. Or your stomach?

Damn good belts. Lifetime though? Probably not. Definitely a few good years though (at least 5).

You measure the area at which you will be placing the belt. Obviously pick the larger of the two and crank down the size of the belt when you get it. Better to have larger because you can always tighten...can't necessarily loosen.

Some people are just simply bull-headed and believe things they hear from others, or construe misguided information on their own.

Pure compounds is a waste. Pure isolation is a waste. You need both for the complete package (Aesthetics, Functional Strength, Power, and Size)

what are the direct results to doing one or the other? im sure people will see some gains doing them that way, but what are they sacrificing by doing solely one or the other?

I called and she said they have none in stock an it would have to be made
Saying about 3-4 weeks which probably means more lol

Do you think that belt is worth the wait?
I clearly dont need it right this second haha
I just hate spending my money and having to wait to long for the item

Any other suggestions for a lever belt?

Thanks
