Hearty Pasta

Cooking supplies you will need:
  • Pot to Boil Pasta
  • Small Frying Pan
  • Large Frying Pan
  • Strainer
  • Cutting Board
  • Chefs Knife
  • Wooden Spoon
Food items you will need:
  • 1lb Uncooked Pasta
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 2 Gloves of Garlic
  • 1lb Mussels (still in shell)
  • 2 Tomatos
  • Small Can of Tomato Paste
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Mushrooms
  • Sea Salt
  • Pepper
  • Tea spoon Table Sugar
  • Italian Sausage (optional)
Preparations

*Put water in the pot for pasta with a sprinkle of salt and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add the pasta to the water and cook to desired tenderness then drain in the strainer and set aside.

*Fill the pot with water once again and bring to a boil, then add the mussels. Cook until the shells open up, then drain in the strainer and rinse with cold water. Remove the mussels from the shells and set aside as well.

*Put the large frying pan over medium heat and add olive oil. While the oil heats up, dice the onion and the garlic. Once diced, add the onion and garlic to the oil and cook until translucent (~2-3 minutes).

*Turn the burner down to medium heat. Halve the mussels on the cutting board and dice the mushrooms, then add to the onions and garlic and let simmer for ~3 minutes.

*Dice the the tomatoes and add to the frying pan after the 3 minutes. Also add the small can of tomato paste and 1/2 cup water. Stir together, cover and let simmer.

*Optional* Brown the italian sausage in the small frying pan, then dice and add to the sauce.

*Add salt and pepper to taste and let the sauce simmer at medium heat until the diced tomatoes are cooked down, stirring lightly ever 5-10 minutes. (Not sure how long it will take as i didn't really time it =/ )

Once the sauce is finished, plate the pasta and add the sauce. Enjoy

Blueberry Vanilla Protein Milkshake

Ingredients:

1 banana, peeled, chopped, frozen or fresh.
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup no-salt cottage cheese or greek yogurt(I prefer Cottage Cheese)
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
splash of milk or water

* Note: If you omit the protein powder, try using vanilla flavored greek yogurt and more of it (~ 2/3 cup).

I just dump the blueberries in the blender, then cut up the banana into the blender. Add one scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, then a splash of milk and blend for a few minutes. The first time I had it I was suprised at how good it was considering I had just tried cottage cheese for the first time the night before and almost threw up. :P
