Hi Raynor,
I have a quick question that i'm hoping you might know about.
My girlfriend took the emergency contreceptiv, Plan B, after unprotected sex. We ended up doing it again like 4 hours afterwards >.<. Lubrication was used (slows down sperm), and I pulled out during both times of intercourse.
Would Plan B still be in effect? and how are the chances of pregnancy?
You do not need to take Plan-B everytime after unprotected sex. The only time Plan-B is needed is if you ejaculate in the vaginal canal. If you withdraw BEFORE (and I mean definitely BEFORE) ejaculation, there is a 0% chance of pregnancy. HOWEVER, there are a few things to note:
1. If you ejaculate, urinate as soon as possible. Consume a good amount of water and urinate a second time. After doing so, you rid your urethra of sperm after the first ejaculation. At this point, you have a 0% chance to impregnate without ejaculation in the vaginal canal.
2. DO NOT HAVE SEX IF YOU JUST EJACULATED AND HAVE NOT URINATED AT LEAST TWO TIMES AFTERWARDS.
3. If you think you MAY have ejaculated even somewhat inside the vaginal canal, yes PLAN B would be a good idea. It is effective for upwards of ONE WEEK after taking it. So anything that happens in that period would most likely (99% or better) be impossible to cause pregnancy.
4. Make sure the woman also urinates at least once or twice after sex to minimize the risk further.
In essence, it is impossible to impregnate with "pre-ejaculate" fluid. There is NO SPERM in this liquid. However there is sperm in the urethra after ejaculation. Thus why sex a second time can cause pregnancy even with using withdrawal. The goal is to cleanse the urethra of sperm by urinating at least two times after each ejaculation.
