I am disappoint Cseitz.

Lots of people have had great success with it, including me.

But Raynor writes it off as a "placebo effect" lmao. Then advocates a ketogenic diet like it's jesus. Lyle Mcdonald would be disappoint.

Lean gains works, short term fasting and "fasted" training is great. It has the science.....and experience to back it up. Whenever Raynor decides to wake up to it and stop giving bad information about that one subject, then it'll be a good day.

I just don't believe in starving myself. That's why I don't like the whole IF idea. I've made crazy good gains off of what I do...and so has the rest of the bodybuilding world.

have you ever consistently eaten your maintenance calories, or more, every day for a significant amount of time?

then I wouldnt expect it. a lot of folks dont eat enough in the first place so I could see why it wouldnt effect them as much

Well to me, fasted = starving. The only time I'm not eating is when I'm sleeping. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and have a protein shake, but most of the times it's cookies and milk :( habit I have to break during the off-season. :X

I'll let Raynor give his advice on it though since this is his thread and he can tell you a lot more in depth as to why IF is bad for you.

He won't go into depth as to why IFing is bad because he has no proof. He'll speculate upon it with his own word and tell you he's certified. I've never seen him provide any evidence or any reliable support for IFing being bad.

I was fat when I started lifting and dieting. I went to IF and I wasn't nearly as hungry as opposed to when I would eat 6 meals/day. Explain, sir.

It really comes down to preference.

16 hours isn't starving yourself.

I'm not saying you won't make gains doing anything else.....I'm not belittling multiple meals.

I'm just saying Raynor bashes IF by saying it's ridiculous and will not work.....when I've dropped bodyfat and raised all of my lifts significantly while on it.

Martin, lyle, and Alan Aragon....three of the top fitness experts in the field right now all have no problems with IFing.

........This is the stupidest answer to not being able to take control of your ghrelin...that I have ever seen.

Raynor,

Could you help me out with repetition / set layout. I'm switching out from Burns's version of the German 10x10, and I'm looking for some sources on reading up on sets/reps.

I'm doing a 5-day split on a 7-day cycle doing chest, back, rest, shoulders traps, arms, legs, rest (and repeat)

It's been a number of months now since I've done my old routines and just can't quite remember the rep/set schemes. As well as, in fact, the resting between sets schemes.

Thanks. Someone mentioned something about lower side back muscles: I'm guessing SLD's will cover that?

As for pecs: yep, I do have a bench and dumbbells. My whole collection is pretty large now (dumbbells from 5-50 with three tier rack, working on up to 100), Hoist 1000lb limit bench, squat cage, high/low pulley, the attachment and machine you recommended, olympic barbells and weights, leg curl/extension attachment, and all the little extras (ab rollers, ez curl bar, skip rope, exercise balls, cable attachments, squat belt, dip belt, etc... list goes on for tiny stuff). May still have room for something more. Kinda going crazy on the whole thing... but it's healthy and keeps me in the gym (sleeping in my gym since it's my bedroom). Lol.

Really still admiring this squatting device that I linked before. Think I might be able to get it for $300. But you did mention it's more of an accessory: just to check again, since I have space for one more thing and probably $300-ish to spend... think I should aim for something different? I'm thinking I may just leave some breathing room in my room so it's not suuuuper packed. :P

yes that will do.

as far as another piece of equipment goes...it's really your call at this point.

Your thoughts about intermittent fasting, have you tried it?
www.leangains.com for more information etc

I don't like it, Ive mentioned this before and had some people get into a pissing match with me in the sticky.

I prefer standard cutting and bulking routines. I do not like the intermittent fasting approach. I feel that it negates too much anabolism and strength gains for most people.

If you want to use it, go ahead....but myself and other health professionals....as well as professional bodybuilders would not recommend it.

CL Orange Triad (3x pills 2 times a day with meals)
NOW! Vitamin d-3 5,000iu (1x pill once a day)
NOW! C-1000 (1x pill 4 times a day separated from the multi)
NOW! L-arginine + Ornithine (4x pills post workout, and pre bedtime)
NOW! L-Carnitine (1x pill 3x per day on an empty stomach)
Optimum Nutrition BCAA-1000 caps (take 4-6 capsules pre workout, intra workout at 45 mins, and post workout)
Scifit Kre Alkalyn (take 2x pre workout and post workout, on nonworkout days take 2x in the am and 2x in the pm)
Scifit glutalyn (if you get this for free with kre alk, take 2x post workout and 2x pre bedtime)
NOW! ZMA (take 3x pre-bedtime)
NOW! Super Omega 3-6-9 (take 2x with every food meal)

That's the list you gave me. What joint support supplement do you recommend?

Oh and also what would you prefer, NOW! Whey Protein Isolate 10lbs (25 bucks cheaper, but tastes like dirt) or 10lbs of Dymatize Iso-100 (10000x better tasting 25 bucks more than the NOW! Isolate). I'm kinda stuck on what to buy. Lol
Not sure if you would recommend one or the other based on their ingredients and such.

bad bad bad bad bad bad. but this isn't my thread. :p

The Orange Triad actually has joint support...if you need additional, try Universal Animal Flex.

As far as the protein goes, NOW! isolate is my favorite, just add 1 packet of stevia to each shake and it greatly improves the flavor.
