I considered a pec dec because that's honestly my favorite machine exercise, but I can't find any to buy around here, and I really do only have space for just one more machine. I have a power cage / squat rack (however you want to call it) already. I'll look into a trap bar.

It's just this final bit of cash I want to sink in just for the sake of finishing things up (making it all nice). It's already a complete gym enough to do absolutely everything anyway, but I want to just add on that little extra to make it more fun.

I would recommend a pec deck if you can find it, great machine.

good luck!

For cutting, I recommend 30-45 mins of HIIT cardio post-workout

for bulking, cardio is not needed - however if you want to, you can do 15-20 minutes of LISS or HIIT post-workout

Thanks. :) I'm trying to find one now.

Turns out I'm going to have space for two machines + one small thing.

I'm thinking a pec dec, a glute-ham device (that would be the smallish thing), and not sure on the third thing (hack squat, or leg sled, or shoulder press / preacher curl machine combo... not sure which of the three). What's your opinion on these choices / what the third one should be?

:D Should see my room... it's ridiculous. More a gym than a bedroom.

I would go with the shoulder press preacher curl combo....to be quite honest, leg curls + leg extensions + squats + lunges + calf raises is really all you need for legs - the hack squats are more of an accessory than a requirement. However, shoulder press is invaluable and so are preachers.

Wondering if a preacher curl machine is beneficial over just a preacher curl freeweight bench.

Also wondering why a shoulder press machine is invaluable over freeweight shoulder pressing.

Here's what I'm looking at:

http://powertecstore.com/p-23-workbench-multipress-with-isolateral-arms-wb-mp11.aspx <-- good for shrugs, shoulder press, incline press, decline press, and chest press, and I think standing bent over machine rows
http://powertecstore.com/p-18-workbench-curl-machine-accessory-wb-cma11.aspx <-- add-on to do machine curls (could also do freeweight preachers on it)

That is a truly epic piece of equipment, I love it.

The plate loaded preacher machine is extremely good at working peak and for perfect proper form in isolating the biceps. When using a regular bar, you tend to spend a lot of energy balancing the weight and keeping it level. There is no need for that with this device - this is a sculpting tool.

The shoulder press is excellent because it allows your body a more natural position for shoulder press movements. A straight bar is great, but a lot of people complain about wrist and shoulder pain because of the lack of adjustment. In addition, for pure safety and ALSO isolation, the basic shoulder press is excellent. Don't forget, you can also do lateral grip in addition to horizontal grip. Compared to dumbbells, this isolates a lot more, whereas dumbbells are outstanding, but require a lot of effort to stabilize. Again like the preacher curl, this is a sculpting machine.

You will be able to isolate and hit the shoulder and biceps both with this great tool.
