Really hard to increase strength consistently while keeping the same bw. try to gain 8-10 pounds imo. How fucked are your knees?

So do I... I mean my vert jump has became insane lately. -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3WWPVKb9Uo

You'll become much stronger with 10 pounds on you. 5'11 160 is light... I mean 5'11 fighters are 170-185 and sometimes 205.

I've had my share of knee injuries with gymnastic and when I was in college I refused to train when my brother asked me to go with him and start powerlift. I couldn't squat. Not even to parallel...I was 16-18 during college and I couldn't squat my bw without pain.

I currently squat pain free because I learned how to. Man just look at this video lol this is me after 4 months and half of weightlifting handling 2x275 like a boss...NOT hahahaha look at the knee path -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v04xzJ1HpU

and now with 365 lbs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ce6GhI%5FI-yQ

I went back to my log to check what I did and It looked like this:

Quote
Start of 5/3/1 (May 2011)
Maxes
Military press: 3x110lb
Soulevé de terre: 3x265lb
Développé couché: 3x170lb
Squat: 3x220lb

1 month and half of 5/3/1 (june 2011)
Maxes:
Military press: 3x126.5lb
Soulevé de terre: 14x247.5lb - 1x319lb
Développé couché: 9x170lb - 1x200lb
Squat: 6x209lb

Those were my absolute max
as you can see squat did not progress that much in the beginning because of bad technique.

FOR YOUR KNEE PAIN:
-Start by eliminating the cause of the pain
-Start taking 3 g of Omega-3 (many pills of fishoil). These help a LOT with pain. I wouldn't be squatting pain free without these atm.
-Relearn how to squat with an empty bar.

in august of 2011 I started stronglift 5x5 to learn how to squat with an empty bar (my max was 13x198 in august 2011 and 15x 265 on deadlift).... ma my legs were pretty scrawny back then hahahaha. http://imageshack.us/a/img854/2861/604843644.jpg LOLOLOL

september 2011
squat: 5x5 235
bench: 2x198 haha
Deadlift: 1x405 (ugly form)

then I injured myself again while doing gymastic (nov 2011). stopped from nov 2011 to may 2012.

may 2012-august 2012 (squatted 8x280 and 1x 325) then injured myself

started to squat again febuary 2013 (here we are lol).... so yeah I haven't been squatting a lot :D
