Now this is interesting. Online Training for fg lol. Kind of a cool concept though. I was looking around the website to try to be more involved with the xbox D2r community and found this thread. I will also probably make a seperate thread now that I know this idea is accepted.

I've been personal training for 14 years. (Working out for almost 20) I did mixed martial arts for 9 years, fought 3 times. 5 certifications over the years. Nationally accredited. Insured (because I USED to work with corporate offices on site and had contracts. This was big money before the zombie apocalypse happened. Then it came and literally destroyed my business and I had to rebrand and now run a semi private studio/gym atm) Ive worked in a tent with Chicago Marathon and worked with The Wounded Warrior Project participants (injured or disabled veterans) as well as Silver Sneakers participants (older folks and health insurance.) I am all in with the health industry and have dedicated my life to it for a career.

If you guys and gals need anything just let me know. I roll under my own logo/brand and dont sell supplements (YET muahah) for 10 percent commission and have my own honest thoughts and opinions.

Here's some social media if you wanna check my Chicago suburb gym out:

I would imagine 50-100 usd can be a good way to get started for sure. You could also ask a friend who works out and go with him or her.

Long story short:

In a gym setting: regular big box gyms charge anywhere from $40-$65 usd an hour. (Usually cheaper rates when you buy larger packages. )

In a more high end big box gym setting: Anywhere from $90-$150+

Independent personal trainers (like myself): anywhere between $40-$160 usd. Just depends on a few variables like where and if you have to commit to their supplements and everything else they sell in their "package".

You can ALWAYS ask for qualifications and get a backround on a trainer if you have special requests, injuries, muscle imbalances etc etc. A trainer might be new EVEN if at an expensive big box gym. The gym makes a HUGE mark up on trainers and because the turn over rate is so high in the industry, they sometimes take whoever they can. I trained at a well known high end gym 6 years ago where I made $22 usd an hour but was charging people $120usd+

Last opinion: the reason why I like seeing an independent trainer with their own space and not just offering to train you somewhere is because that person most likely dedicated their life to the industry and wants that as a career instead of using training as a stepping stone or something temporary.

Yes there are trainers who dont have money or wont take out a loan to get their own business going and trains on the side or trains somewhere but anyone can do that so thats why I mentioned how I did.

Best of luck!

Hello,

I am a gym bum (or if you want t use a positive term: fanatic). I've worked at a gym, and been a trainer at the gym (in my younger and crazy days overseas), however I'm now back to my original work - software engineer, heh.

The gym charges absorbent money, and most trainers just looking to sign people and get money. Trainers are limited by their experience and their ideas, so getting some new person (which they usually are) is hit and miss (probably miss), because they have limited EXP. Of course, you could go for a hot girl/guy trainer and have daydreams, and you'd listen to them, but again, they probably don't have that much exp. if they are young, and they more interested in $$$.

If I were richer, I'd get one, just so they can shit on me and say "You wimp" and force me to push out more sets/reps/cycles/etc on high intensity medium weight (don't get INJURED, srsly, that is the biggest worry for anyone, beginner or expert). Same goes for almost any training regimen.

What I can say is finding a good trainer can help you, but if you are new, it's probably not necessarily worth the money. I'd look for someone at the gym to shadow: SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T STARE AT THE MIRROR, who cares more about himself.

I took maybe 20 people in my gym years not as a gym employee, almost all were overweight (basically obese) or really skinny: people who approached me, or were friends of friends. I sometimes charged for strangers but in general, I only charged a nominal fee for them to train with me. We're talking 55 - 60 kg skinny dudes, and girls/guys weight 100kg+.

Massive transformation takes ~1 yr. but great differences seen in 2-3 months. It really depends on body type, hours you put in, no injury, intensity.

- Obese people have tough time loosing weight, they need to have mindset change for food, BUT they are easily motivated and get into it very quick, because they want to lose weight and have that nice body. There are some gear that helps drop fat, but I wouldn't use it, because it affects thyroid and also, as soon as you go off, if you didn't change your eating habits, BOOM you gain it back.

- Skinny is tougher, because gains are minimal, so expectations have to be set, as it's impossible for a skinny guy to get to be 85-90kg by genetics, unless they go on some gear. If you use injectibles, well we know what happens if you go on AND OFF. If you use sarms, slower up and limit is lower, but losses are much less too.

I'd say what most very experience gym people say: work on worth ethic, and yourself - as in build your character and work hard. It's the path and journey that's more important than the results - if you train hard and correctly, you will reach your maximum potential.

A good gym trainer can help you, but most likely you should look for a hard worker in the gym, a guy/girl that trains hard, instead of an employee. That's just my opinion.

The key is to use your groin and back. Take your legs completely out of the equation. Lift with your lower back in a twisting jerking motion.

surprised nobody picked up on thsi family reference.

It depends. My price range from 147$ to 104$ per hour (price depends on the amount of sessions you initially sign up for).

Don't waste your money. The internet has all the information you ever need.

Can believe this, because it is true!

Really anyone who has some experience of gymming will tell you the same.

Or the fact that most supplements just make your piss more expensive and supplement-company rich(er)

Same goes for all kinds of weird exercises or training methods.

Since there are the regular ones and then there are the extra special ones who have to take something perfectly fine and make it much much less perfect.

First and foremost, before you start spending money on personal trainers, do som research online about training plans and recovery etc...

If you are still feeling clueless after watching a few videos on youtube etc, you might read up on it in one of the many bodybuilding forums...

Then and only then, should you consider paying someone else for info that is readily available online...

Since this is will always be a personal choice, of course feel free to "waste" your money...

Universally true/accepted though is, that with time spent in gym and reading up on the subject, comes experience and knowledge.

Consider to learn the basics from videos and forums (or even here) and only then think about the need of a personal trainer...

Knowledge on the subject is what personal trainers try to sell you and they will drag it out as much as they can to make money.

So in the end, try to make wise choise based on your own research and talking to experienced gym-goers. It will save you lots of time, trouble and money.

TLDR, read the first letter of every sentence top to bottom for the only universal truth.
