Makes me think there's an imbalance in the musculature surrounding the knee. If you're prone to valgus without any history of knee arthritis, it sounds like you could try to stabilize the knee by strengthening the medial part of the quad.
Knee sleeves are more for peace of mind, keeps everything a bit tighter and warmer.
Knee wraps are like squatting into denim wrapped around your joint. Shit hurts, but it springs you up like a junkie with narcan.
