Has powerlifting or lifting ever caused any of you to have problems with your prostate or anything else in that region?

i have recently gone to the doctor for it but my follow up isnt for another week or so

My symptoms have been general discomfort in my prostate region, no sharp pains, but more of a pressure feeling.

painful erections and blood in my.......discharge, but nothing when i pee.

my doctor put me on a regiment anti-biotics thinking maybe its an infection, but i was done with those over a week ago and i still have pain and very little improvement.

I've been reading up on how using the valsalva maneuver can potentially cause damage due to the all the intra-abdominal pressure, so in my head that maybe one cause of this, as i have been focusing a lot more on powerlifting and have been going after weights i haven't done in years.

and the other thing that seemed to help a bit was i stopped wearing compression shorts, i stocked up on a bunch shortly after Christmas and went a long time only wearing them, these last couple months i had a pretty deep rut of depression and i went a long period of time without any "climax". (till i hooked up with a chick i met at a club and spewed blood in the condom  i'm sure that made her feel like she made a real good choice)

I got tested for every STD and STI around, no herps, aids, hpv, anything like that

I'm having trouble having confidence in my doctor when it comes to this issue, because she didnt seem to have much of any idea what this was or where it was going. I'm not really asking for medical advice, but if any of you have had maybe a similar experience or potential input i'd like some direction, if any, on how to go about getting this taken care of.

currently 28 yrs old if that matters

she will refer to a urologist if she feels this is outside of her scope, and likely that is the next step after a course of abx unless she feels like ordering her own imaging. she probably did a prostate exam first thing so its a good thing that she didnt feel any obvious lumps because she presumably wouldve been more aggressive than just abx. blood in the prostatic fluid is not something to take lightly or brush off so im confident that if she really went through medical school she will refer you if the abx doesnt make a change.

Your doc hasn’t done a digital exam or tested your antigen level?

Go get a new doctor.

prostate cancer is not going to be at the top of the differential in a 28 yo.

Well, my follow up isn't for another 5 days and the amount of blood present has actually been less than when it first started.

today is kind of a heavy squat day so i'm kinda curious to see if this aggravates it or not. If it does i'll either deload or take the next week off.

she actually did not do a prostate exam :bouncy:

so a part of me is like is this that small of an issue, or is she kinda bad lol

i'm hoping for some answers by my next exam

That’s why you test for BPH, since you know... Symptoms and stuff.

E: be honest OP, you just want your butthole played with.

went to see a specialist

turns out my doctor was kind of an idiot and didnt have much of a clue what was going on

apparently all did was rupture a seminal vesicle somewhere down in my junk, i was in the room for maybe 10 minutes with the specialist and he was kinda like why are you even here.

Now the cause of it still kinda bothers me, not sure if i did it banging some hefty ladies or some serious bracing while squatting/benching/deadlifting

zero pain while lifting so hoping its the latter
