don't get any shoes with a "cushioned" heal for running...run barefoot or run in minimalistic shoes...

you're not supposed to land on your heal when you run. you land on the balls of your feet first and then your heel follows.

I agree with this thinking, but also keep in mind that you're not supposed to be running on concrete/blacktop either and cushioning may be helpful.

Show me scientific proof that balls of feet vs heel matters

Wut? I think you quoted the wrong person.

Or maybe you meant me, but I was agreeing with the first part that it's ideal to run barefoot and not to the second part.

OK I just dont think barefoot strike vs heel strike matters that much. As long as you are co.fortable and avoid injury

If conditions are ideal, barefoot will be better for you every time. Shoes are an assistive device that has the potential to cause problems and there's no point to use them if you can use barefoot. With that being said, ideal conditions aren't that common and shoes are usually recommended in almost every situation.

Ya when i ran XC our fastest guy said running barefoot on grass is best. My brother has been transitioning to minimalist shoes for past few years. Im not sure how barefoot/frees/vibrams will affect joints long term though.

The fastest animals run on their balls of the feet, don't they?

But I think the original post had something to do with shoe drop rate?Cushioning becomes like a high heel
