http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/nutrition/vitamin/vita-d-eng.phpTolerable upper level intake is 4000 iu's for male adults. I'm not sure I'd take more than that. I just go with the 1000 iu I get from the pill I have.
"The IOM report states that there are no additional health benefits associated with vitamin D intakes above the level of the new RDA." ; RDA = 600 IU per day in male adults.
I'm sure there's reasons to load on vit D for a bit, or consistently take more than recommended, if there's an identified issue by a doctor. But otherwise... I go by above.
