Also, after today, I'm leading my friend by 10 lbs and all we have is deadlift yet.

He will have to have a herculean effort to beat me :D

Your ohp is ridiculously strong tbh. You would've benefitted more from linear programming than 5/3/1 though, could probably have had a 350+ squat and a 450+ dead in 6 minths

may be optimal / more effective, but honestly progress is progress. Too many people are just dicking around. Longevity ftw.

Good shit man, keep it up.

5/3/1 is good. I'll continue on it throughout this cut cycle. Slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks though. I hope to at least keep my OHP the same as i cut down to 170.

Thanks, university and starting my own business has kept me ridiculously busy, but the gym helps me keep my sanity.

Slow and steady wins the race? Plz show me a tortoise beating usain bolt. Fast and steady wins the race.

Slow and steady just completes it

I think what he means is slow & steady along with consistency instead of going ham by short bursts

While you're referring the tortoise, the tortoise did win against the hare

Completing the race is good enough. I made good and steady progress while keeping workouts short enough to run a business and attend school full time.

My philosophy is that you should pick a method and stick to it for as long as possible. I'll do something else once I can't get stronger doing 5/3/1.

Hey Bro's,
figured I would check in and let you guys briefly know what I've been up to.

Started working out again in august and decided to have a competition with my friend about who could add the most pounds to their total in 6 months.
I followed a very basic 5/3/1 format, and gained a good amount of weight.

Starting lifts were:
Bench: 195x1
Squat: 205x1
Deadlift: 245x1
OHP: 115x1

We are now maxing out again this week to see who added the most to their total.
We have only done bench so far, and i have a 5 lb lead as I benched 235x1
Today we will do squat, and this probably be the day i am most likely to lose on.

Competitions between friends are fun, I would recommend adding another contest for you two to compete in; see who can run a mile faster.
