I think the narrower you are the better torso/core stabilization you get. Wider is more confortable for most people. The guys with buddha bodies can do it well because they have all that fat to help stabilize.
Then the other thing too is mobility, which is why wider is more comfortable for many
I often have to be intentional about keeping my hands and arms in close while lifting heavier because my forms breaks down if I don't but it's not as comfortable. I also do high bar squats. I don't like low bar
