I wonder if that's a testament to the extremeness of the sport, or the 'sportsmen' who choose cheerleading

Well considering cheerleaders > non-cheerleaders, must be testament of the brutality of this sport.

MMA who?

btw anyone here ever been through thumb surgery?

Fuck my life if I'm out for 6 weeks + 3 months, thats nearly half a year lost... And three of the four competitions for the 2016-17 season :( :( :(

asked if I could just gobble up pain killers and make it through the first comp but doctor said that's only a good idea if I want a non-functioning thumb for next 2-3 years <_<

didnt realize a broken thumb could bring this much hassle, holy shi

well, you have to factor in how many people play those sports or do those activities

you're going to have the most popular sports at the top

i think it's something like 45% of hand mobility comes from the thumb, could even be higher and the next is index finger

honestly you can fuck up the middle, ring, pinky and hardly notice it

but the thumb and index = fucked

per capita I can guarantee you its 2-3 times higher in cheerleading compared to basketball and Football ^^

"Cheerleading accounts for fully two-thirds (66%) of all catastrophic injuries in female athletes.[1]"

two fucking thirds lol.

if we include males the rate obviously drops, as there are probably 20-30 basketball players and 30-40 american footballers for every 1 male cheerleader

Can actually do the maths... globally there are 4 million cheerleaders, of which 95% are female

So thats 200,000 males.

I bet there's somewhere like 20 million who play football in the states... doubt there's a 100:1 injury ratio m8

Yeah its ridiculous how important the thumb is.

I can't do any push exercises.
Can't do cheerleading (partner stunt)
Can't do tumbling
Can't write (I'm a leftie)
Can't type properly since I have to use my fingers
Can't lie in bed and browse the phone with my left hand like I always do
Can't fap with my desired arm
Can't play playstation games

Might aswell not have a hand;(

ahhh you meant the sport Lance Armstrong does...

actually not surprising at all, I've often heard cycling is the most dangerous sport in the world, and often pops up as quiz question...

is it..

A ) boxing

B ) cycling

C ) whatever

people always get surprised when they hear it
