Considering the importance of sleep for hormonal balance, neurological function, and recovery you would be playing with fire if you did the workout.

It could go well and it could go horribly wrong, but it's just tipping the scales a little in the wrong direction.

i'm sure for a lot of us it feels like a detriment to our goals to skip out on a day here and there.

i don't think it is at all.

I haven't gone to the gym at all this week because it is death week of midterms. Planning on going after my midterm, but I will be running on 0 sleep. Should I do it or just go Friday and end up working out upper body only once?

Next time budget your time more efficiently. Studying can take a break for an hour or even a half hour in the gym. This will even help you think more clearly in time for your exams (especially cardio or HIIT)

If you have to choose between working out and sleeping AFTER exhausting yourself physically AND mentally from the exam, go with SLEEP.

Don't do it, only works counterproductive. Don't wanna link your tired state of mind to lifting. Take exercises elsewhere, like taking the stairs, take a walk during a break but don't bother with the gym.

Good luck on your midterms!
