Did a few sets of box squats today with a more narrow stance, gotta say that once I get a little bit more flexible, I'll be great. I spoke to a doc in the ED 'where I work' and he was saying that wide stance squats can cause a lot of tension of the adductor/abductor muscles, and if your complimenting muscles aren't strong it can cause unnecessary hip flexor strain. So I narrowed my stance to shoulder width and squatted to a bench and it felt great!
Thanks guys
If you're squatting to a bench, you're not going through the full range of the motion. If you can't get through the whole range of motion without pain, you really need to become more flexible.
When you squat down your heel should be on the ground and your knee should be a few inches in front of your toes. If you can't do that right now without any weight on your back, your form isn't correct and you need to work on flexibility.
