Caseins good for night shakes

As serialj0e said, night shakes mostly. Mix some whey protein with casein. 1-2 hours before bed alongside nuts and oats.

The casein will last me about 250-300 days (about 18-20g per night, plus a bit of whey blend).

If you subscribe to the philosophy that you should eat 4+ times a day, spaced out, and once total protein intake is reached everything is good... then yes... casein doesn't seem to make sense.

I'm eating 5 times a day. I am playing with timings. So right now I try to eat every 3-4 hours, 6 times a day, at about this scheme: 3000 calories aim total, 700 first meal, 600 second, 500 third, 450 fourth, 450 last (+post workout).

How I supplement protein depends on what meats I have throughout the day. Usually I supplement protein for my first meal, after my workout, and 1-2 hours before I sleep.

Right now I'm playing with what kinds of protein I take in. So I have whey isolate, regular high quality whey, and casein. I always go purely for whey isolate after my workouts, since usually a meal follows 1-2 hours after the post-workout food. But for other parts of the day, I do mixes of isolate, regular, and casein. I realize that isolate mixed with other things will reduce how quickly the isolate is digested, but it just depends on how much I mix.

1-2 hours before bed, I'm trying about 70% casein, 30% whey.
