if the xray is insufficient, then you end up doing a mri, you did both instead of one

That's my thought process.

Sure they do, MRI's are usually not used to diagnose knee conditions since an X-ray can pick up on it just the same.

We had a DO get fired from my hospital because he was writing scripts for kick backs to get MRI's done, and 90% of them were unnecessary.

are you retarded LOL X-ray better than mri for knee? LAFFF

I'm not convinced you know the difference between the two without the use of Google, gauging by your in depth argument.

They are both excellent diagnostic tools, each have their own strengths.. Trying to find small fractures or determine the advancement of arthritis? An MRI is your best shot.. Trying to determine if you have arthritis or a substantial fracture? An X-ray or CT is your best bet.

unless osteoarthritis, or osteomyelitis, or bone tumor, or a fracture x-ray isn't going to show you too much.

Sounds like old trauma in the knee, the answer for soft tissue visualization is MRI when dealing with the knee, could by 1 of a lot of ligaments or tendons in that area.

I have had both done for my knees and can tell an mri will always give you a more in depth look. Forgot, dealing with an idiot who doesn't get free health care.

I've had an arthrogram before, they suck ass..

Thanks for this post btw, was really informative. I've always gone with the ole ways of starting cheap. But I guess it depends on what the symptoms are indicative of.

typically people will start with an xray if symptoms are vague but if there's obviously laxity in a joint they may just go for an mri, because its apparent that connective tissue is missing

your argument is 100% counter-intuitive to the point you're (poorly) attempting to make though.

i love it because when arrogance backfires it tickles the fuck out of me.

anyways, free health care, socialism great etc etc. i'm honestly all for it. let's not forget, that idiot also gets high quality, prompt healthcare... but pays for it.

i'd choose the latter everytime. then again, i ain't a broke bitch.
