What foods are you buying?

here's an example of a food that i had been buying recently: http://www.calorieking.com/foods/calories-in-pickles-kosher-dill-sandwich-slices-pickle_f-ZmlkPTkwNTcy.html
Serving Size: One slice: 420mg of sodium. It's not as though I was considering pickles to be a health food or anything, but I was only eating a small amount (5 calories!).

here's something else: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Oscar-Mayer-P3-Chicken-Breast-Cheddar-Cheese-Dry-Roasted-Peanuts-Portable-Protein-Pack-2-oz/34129198#about
This was in the section of supposedly 'healthy stuff'. 430mg sodium (20% dv) and only 200 calories (10%). Even the 'healthy stuff' still forcefeeds me excess sodium.

As I walk through the store, I just see more and more of stuff like this. I just need something where the sodium dv% is less than or equal to the % of 2000 calories. I felt awkward walking around the store for half an hour trying to look at everything.

i googled it when i got home and found that i am not alone, other people have the same problem finding something that is not packed with sodium: https://www.google.com/search?q=why%20does%20everything%20have%20so%20much%20sodium&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

what kind of special retard is worried about % daily value of sodium in foods and eats lame ass pickles with 500mg per?

fruits
veg
nuts
seeds
eggs
meats
grains
rice
potatoes

literally none of these have high sodium contents. eating 2k calories worth of them would never yield 4x the daily 2g.

if you're so concerned about health quit buying random preservative laden shit and eat real food.

doesn't want sodium. buys random lunch "meat" sodium infused concoction in place of actual chicken breast/thigh/etc

quit being an idiot

That list contains no information. I've already tried walking around the store trying to find where to buy the items on your list in a non-sodium laced version that also fit the 2 criteria in the first post. Walking around confused for 10 minutes reading every package wasn't very productive. I suppose I could try spending an hour doing it and maybe find something, but I also figured that someone here may have a suggestion.

Salt is used to preserve food.

Buy fresh uncooked meat then freeze it.

Also, I'd listen to what others have stated about sodium and hbp.

you can't even use plastic plates/silverware?

no oven, no microwave? Or what?

I used to make a bowl with oats (you don't have to cook the instant ones), cut up banana, coconut flakes (find in baking/health section), walnuts, etc. Can put anything you want in it really (pb, any fruit, jelly, etc).

Use a lot of your sodium for lunch meat/ beef jerky

idk I need more info to list some better stuff

Why the fuck would u even read anything on these items listed?

no one is going to add salt to their fresh whole with skin fruits, veggies, eggs, meats, grains, or rice.

Unless you're looking for precooked rice in a can with salt in it.

Or precooked fruits in a can.

ore precooked eggs and meats in a bottle.

Like what are you doing lol

You need sodium depending on how much water you drink to balance out the water. Don't kill yourself by cutting out all sodium and then dehydrate. When I was in the infantry I used to sweat so much there would be white salt rings on my uniform. Covered in salt from head to toe. All hail salt! The delicious mineral of the earth used to season EVERYTHING. Salt is hella important. Even the Bible mentions salt a few times. Salt is used in everything manufactured or processed.

TL;DR what they said.

it's true that too much sodium isn't healthy.

i'm not sure where this 5g a day broscience is coming from, but if we look at the amount of sodium the body of an average person uses/needs and what is recommended by the AHA, 1000-1500mg a day is perfectly fine, generally. i can see how eating nothing but processed/packaged foods could make your sodium consumption get really out of hand. if i'm interpreting what you said correctly, 8g a day, yikes.

the problem you're having, OP, is something that's exclusive to your inhibited lifestyle. if you're unable to cook, or even dirty a dish, your goal here doesn't seem too reasonable. salt acts as a preservative in the majority of processed/pre-packaged/canned food. i'd really like to help but can only think of a few things.

could you buy a bunch of tupperware and do meal prep once a week?
if not, would you be able to go to some sort of wholesale club like Costco, BJ's, Sam's Club, etc? these places seem to be very keen on healthy/healthy-ish food trends. ofc tupperware up for this option, too.
try out grill bags/oven bags to cook things in. they're actually really great, and requires no cleanup. throw some fish/veggies/seasoning in one, you got a nice meal.
