For the gymworkouts focus on stability, balance and core training if they are not to keen with lifting.

Training will help a lot with cognitive functions aswell such as reactions, memories and attention and can also help prevent the risk for stuff like dementia and alzheimers.
I presented perks in cognitive functions for my parents rather than the physical ones, they reacted way more to increased mental health.

what did you get them to do? :)

First I made them walk or take the bikes when going shorter distances at first. The first step to a active life is starting small, if I told them to go out and do stuff 3 hours a day they wouldn't
Now they walk around 2 hours a day and say they don't experience ailments in knees/hips/back etc anymore and feel way fresher during the day.
They don't really feel like going to a gym so I told them to just do more physical activity of any kind.
Got them some rubberbands and taught them how to do some rows, facepulls, pullaparts etc.

well, technically itll be like once a week, if it was one upper and one lower .. so im thinking 2 full body days. Like dirtyman said, bodyweight / dumbbell and some impact stuff.

Tbh Ive gained a ton of flexibility just from lifting full rom.
Hopefully this will carry over to her through some of the exercises she can do.

Hard to train balance tho

Good to hear mate, how's he going with it

Yes but you're young. Flexibility is also very subjective. Some people are just naturally flexible when they're younger. As people age developing a healthier body becomes more difficult.

I like Plaad's approach. My mother thinks she is going to have Alzheimer's because her mother had it and died of it within the past 6 months. She's slightly over weight, and no homo or no incest or whatever, but my mom used to be very attractive when I was little!

I had her lift with me at their house in the basement with Dumbbells, straight bar, ez bar, ended up just training her for an hour. She did a full body exercise sans a few things I'd normally hit, and like others mentioned, I went wayyyy to hard on her. Low weight but perfect form, had her drink preworkout, the whole 9 yards. She couldn't move for 3 days afterwards and never asked for my help again LOL! She admitted she knew being sore was good but she just doesn't have the time for it. Admittedly she is extremely busy as she's a bad ass realtor. Sad part of the post, she kicked my dad out yesterday randomly and abruptly for reasons I never would have guessed and no one here would ever guess either after nearly 26 years. Haven't talked to my dad yet and I don't know if I will. It's so strange but I can't talk to anyone I know personally IRL about this so I had to at least post something in here cuz some of you guys are my niggas, but I love you all HnF brostachios

Thanks bro, I may just need that in the days to come.

I used to come on JSP just for gaming and found HnF a few years back, sadly after having discovered General Chat. GC tainted my view of people on here, but HnF restored my faith in the humanity that is JSP. There's some good people in here and we all try to help one another on our trip to gainsville.. so thanks HnF. I respect you all, mad love. /end sappy post

yeah being a realtor would be good for cognitive function - having a lot to remember and process etc. Keeping mentally active is equally huge imo. There's good apps out too specifically for that stuff.

Hit me up if you ever want to chat and ill throw my 2 cents in m8

Every single average person on this earth could benefit from weight training, especially in older age. There are numerous health benefits, weight training will improve your blood pressure, improve resting metabolism, increase muscle mass, probably preserves some neuromuscular function in aging, etcetcetcetc
