it's more than that. if you haven't proper ankle flexibility than the shoes can help. you should be able to hold a ass to grass bodyweight squat for a long period of time without falling backwards. if you fall backwards it's a sign of tight ankles.
add the oly shoes...and you likely won't fall back anymore.
im not saying theyre not helpful, and i just realized i misread the post. he just started oly lifting i thought he just started going to the gym all together. so i guess hes lifted before.
