my closest gym is 2 hours by bus :/

I had a look at some stuff and the general rule of thumb is to try put on some weight/muscle and then try to cut weight down? I really just want to maybe put on a couple of kilos in solid muscle so is it possible to do both or will it take forever?

Also since ive never lifted a weight before or done any kind of strength training will that be a disadvantage and take me longer to notice any difference or because i havent it will come more noticeable?

Buy some dumbells and a bench, then workout at home?

To answer your question, you'll actually see differences quicker as a beginner generally speaking. Unless your diet is absolute crap of course.

i was looking into getting a home gym machine, or do you guys think its more beneficial with dumbells and a bench?

If you put real effort in and actually try you will see great results the whole first year newbie gains m9. do pushups pull ups dips ect ect if you have to but dont be a bitch about it and do 1 set of 10 twice a day and expect to see results... i remember when i was in rehab 2 years ago my roommate tried to get me to exercise doing pushups and what not.. i struggled to do 10 pushups with shitty form... today i did pushups just to see how far ive progressed and i did 68 strict form and i was proud as fuck of how far ive came..
