I understand the driving with the hips cue, but the squat is much harder keeping the hips and upper back rising at the same speed, is that normal, or due to muscular imbalances that will sort themselves out after squatting like this?

From your previous threads.. My assumption is that you are jumping in weight too aggressively and compensate form.
Back off 10, 15 or 20% and form focus?
