You can do a #2.5 17 times? Sounds like you'll be slamming the #3 shut in no time.

What's your routine like?
What kind of close are you doing with them? Mash monster set, credit card set, table no set?

Get over to thegripboard.com and you'll get all the help you need.

I can close a #2.5 and a ghp6, but stopped training after I moved to Australia. Right away I'll tell you that negatives with a heavier gripper are the way to go. Google the KTA gripper program, it'll cost you 25 bucks but is well worth it.

Put 2 towels over lat pull down bar. And old the towels in your hands and do pull downs. Don't wrap the towels around the bar or your hands. Just lay them over it.

You can close #2.5 15-17 times in a row?

Either you are not closing it right or there is something seriously wrong.

So less ROM than credit card? If so that might be a thing to work on.

Friend closed #3 last year (certified).
He said he trained grip like this on Ironmind:

I train my grip four times a week. Two heavy sessions with heavy strapless overhand grip deadlifts and heavy gripper work, and two lighter sessions with wrist curls plus wrist and finger extensions. The purpose of the lighter session is mainly to prevent injuries. I build my grip training around a slightly higher number of repetitions,” said Lindskog.
