I probably shouldn't have swore as much as I did and came out so strong, but I myself deal way better with people telling me straight up how it is than just trying to be nice and beat around the bush.

One day at a time. Force yourself to work on what you need to work on and you will surprise yourself at what you can do.

We're all going to make it brah

Thanks man, Seriously appreciate this.

Step 1) Start slow. Don't just jump into a routine and hit it hard. You won't last because you need to build a habit. Continue your walks, set a distance and record your time. Next time you go, beat that time. Continue to slowly better yourself.
Step 2) Be realistic. What do you want from this? If you're looking to "get a fit body" then you realize it will take a while, up to 6 months easily depending on how you're built etc. Set a goal that's achievable in a month or so (Maybe a 30/40 minute 5k run/jog depending on your level of fitness) You get where I'm going.
Step 3) Do research. Teach yourself. The internet has FUCKLOADS of information out there. Coming from someone who studied Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physiology, etc you can learn almost anything you want about the human body and fitness.
Step 4) Make sure you eat well. By this I mean have a balance. If you can go months on end eating chicken, rice and spinach then all the power to you. But don't deprive yourself of eating things you enjoy. Live your life while you're making this change but understand that you need balance, just like you do with your mental stability.
Step 5) Focus on you. I went through a bout of depression and I still get hit with it every now and then, but remember your goal. I always spent my time and energy on other people and making them feel better in hopes they'd return the favor or that the pleasure I got from helping others would help me out of my depression. I spoke to a psychiatrist and he gave me an analogy I'll never forget. "You have a bucket right? It's full of water. Let's say that this water you have is what makes you happy. You're slowly pouring your water into other peoples buckets in hopes that people will pour theirs into yours. You need to make sure your bucket is full before you can help anyone else fill theirs". To some it may sound stupid but to me it hit home. I needed to focus on myself and just to me. Do things I enjoy. This doesn't mean neglect other people, but put yourself first.
Step 6) This won't be an easy path to take and it won't always be uphill. Shit gets tough at times and it can knock you down but you just need to remember why you're doing this.
Step 7) Be safe. Remember everyone starts somewhere. You may see someone who's body looks wonderful but he didn't come out of the womb looking like that. It takes time, and just know that almost everyone with a decent head on their shoulders won't mind you working out to better your health (In a gym setting ofc) Also, tied along with being safe; don't do anything that can put you back to square one, or try to avoid it until you feel ready for it. If you had a bad break up, avoid that person etc. (Side-note also be safe when doing exercise because beginners may push themselves too hard and injure themselves)

This isn't really anything set in stone and you can do these in whatever order you may please, but I can't stress enough to you that practicing good health is a life-long lifestyle choice. I could help more but I don't want to make a wall of text really. Just remember there is information all over the internet (so don't pay a personal trainer) and your goal is your goal. Don't base your goals off of what others have accomplished. They have a different set of circumstances and everyone moves at their own pace. If you're happy being a lean guy with a little bit of muscle (Not like bodybuilders/fitness models) then more power to you man. Don't let people tell you what you want for yourself. As Braxton said, you need work for what you want. It's you who has to work for your own goals.

Start lifting and become more depressed if you don't make; or lose gains. You will slowly see everything under the sun wrong with your physique as if you're grading yourself to professional body building standards and wallow in self hatred.
