decent read

My concern is that my surgery was to correct a lateral meniscus tear, and I'm left with half the meniscus in my left knee.
I suppose I could try alternating between fast-paced walking and light jogging to start, and work my way up from there.

/edit - Also, I skimmed that article. Will be reading through more thoroughly later on. Thank you.

Just tested this , actually. Went for a walk/jog with the dog, and the only pain I got was muscular. No knee pain at all. Granted it was only a mile total, but a good enough start I think.

Do a couch to 5k program. Start from scratch, don't fuck yourself up.

Did a google search, and that actually seems like the greatest idea ever.

That's the first thing that came up. That what you had in mind?

Careful with this. The meniscus is for absorbing shock to the knee. Running is really stressful on a meniscus. Especially half of one.

Also, welcome to my world.
2 knee surgeries in the last 2 years.

Yeah, definitely going to take it slow. I feel like the Couch-to-5k program that I found could be a pretty solid way to ease into it. I'll start out with the First workout tomorrow, get the first week done, and go from there. Maybe this will lead to a progress thread.

Have you thought about cycling?

for running, just have good shoes and stretch 10-15 minutes before and after
