There's a gym near me charging $50 month for students open 24/7 - option A
Option B is $30 not 24/7 but open most of the time I can go but is 25' drive.
Which one should I do?!
Is $50/month too much?
if you're trying to compare them financially, put a price on both. for the gym near you, how long does it take to get there and how much do you spend on gas?
if it's 5 minutes away, that's 10 min round trip. maybe 4 miles total on side roads? if you get 24 mpg, that's 1/6 of a gallon of gas per day.
B - 25 minutes away is 50 minutes round trip. maybe 30 miles total? if you get 24 mpg, that's 7.5/6 gallon of gas per day.
if you go 5x a week, 4 weeks a month:
A costs you 50$ + 3.3gal, @3$/gal => 60$
B costs you 30$ + 25gal, @3$/gal => 105$
also dont forget your opportunity cost. option B loses 40 minutes of time you could spend on something else.
just my estimate. do the math yourself with actual values. but the lesson is don't just look at the sticker price. consider everything when making a financial decision
