there is biochemical evidence that cardiovascular training can suppress psynth in combination with strength training and that there is some reduction in adaptation to strength training as a result but for small amounts of CV training it probably wont be a problem.

thats what i just said homeslice

if you have one of those bodybuilder diets where all caution is thrown to the wind, heavy in red meat and other sat fats/cholesterol, cardio every day would be some solid harm reduction

depends on your goals...

all a matter of caloric needs

if u want to gain weight, eat more than u burn

in calculating an estimate of daily expenditure, factor in how much cardio you do

then go from there

to see aerobic benefit you need to be reaching at least 60% vo2max for CT training and HIIT pushes you up to 90% pretty easily. walking will prbably keep you at like 30%. the reason walking is a good alternative for older individuals is that the absolute amount of work stays the same, they still have to move their (arbitrary) 60kg frame over a certain distance and that requires an absolute amount of oxygen, say 20ml/kg/min O2. the difference is that vo2max declines with age so an older person walking might hit 80%vo2max because their aerobic limit has declined to be only 25ml/kg/min whereas someone young will still have a normal 50ml/kg/min peak, so the amount of relative work is different for young and old. benefits come when you challenge your vo2max. old people can challenge theirs with less intense exercise than young people
