Yeah you can stop with the carnitine and and arginine... use the JACK3D if you want to (fuck the easy way) but it won't have effects forever - so do what motivates you
you can also eat beef lol... just make sure it is lean to keep the calories down
the pain you experience will likely decrease as you continue training and after more weight loss has been achieved.

this could be one reason for your pain - be careful to use proper form and reasonable weight... you're not going to gain massive amounts of strength in one day -- it takes motivation that lasts my friend.
