Pretty much. This is where IIFYM (If it fits your macros) fly's to shit. People just start shoving whatever into themselves because its easy to intake a ton of fat calories in the day. That will make you gain weight no question about it. Buts its not stable for the long run.
Mind over matter for now. Keep eating your whole foods, but just intake more. Slap an extra cup of rice in you would't normally have and mix in a few scrambled eggs.
A little common sense will go a long way in this one. It just might be hard to get the ball rolling.
A trick that worked for me using whole foods is drink your calories. You can put a ton of great stuff in a blender and for myself it all goes down no problem. You can down a 1000 cal shake with no issues using oats peanut butter and some yogurt and other fillers like fruits.
