Correlation =/= causation

Maybe he just got the shit end of the testosterone stick

This, you cant determine cause and effect. At least not with the information provided.

Yo, so I definitely know some people smoke weed and lift, no problems. When I smoked a shit ton 2 years ago, I was probably in the best shape of my life. However, I've recently found out that marijuana for extended periods of time and CHRONIC (no pun intended) usage can definitely lower testosterone.

The proof is in the pudding. My 18 year old brother, who's in good shape and eats well, bla bla bla, no health problems, has been smoking pot regularly for at least the past 4 years. We're talking daily, kid smokes at least an ounce a week of the dankies. We're not marijuana noobs. Anyways, he's recently started back up lifting with me and he's lost all the gains he once had as a younger dude and I was kinda like "wat" with him, so I asked my doctor to check him out, results:

Estrodial was in normal range,

Test was 392ng/dl. For an 18 year old, that shits whack. At 22 my test was higher than that.

Kinda blew my mind to be honest.

Edit: Reason I thought about this is I'm going boarding tomorrow for a week up @ Breckinridge and they've got a new dispensary there I've been wanting to check out. Honestly seeing his results got me kinda like "watx2" about eating some dabbabars and getting down on the shatter.

Maybe he just has hypoandrogenism lol.

mine tested when i was 17 was just over 300ng/dl (like 313 iirc) .. and pretty sure 28x-97x is the normal range.. so no, you're brother is fine.

thyroid has nothing to do with test?? get his nads / pituitary gland checked if anything.. but doctor will more than likely say the same thing, nothing wrong with his levels

but when he's older he may be a good candidate for trt.. which will get him to like 6-700ng/dl probably

313 is low as fuck. That's the range for 15-25 year olds. When you're younger, you're supposed to be higher. He's already qualified for TRT and the doctor will give it to him if he wants it. It wouldn't be a "therapy" dose, though.

yeah.. and your brother is 18.. which is in the middle of that range lol.. so he is normal. that is bizarre the dr is willing to put him on TRT at 18 without being officially diagnosed with any glandular problems. Sounds like your doctor is pretty cool if you are implying he is willing to put him on high dose pharm grade test.. if so, you're bro is in a great position right now.

Nah this is actually well known tbh though

Studies in both humans and rats have validated that circulating LH, FSH, and correspondingly, testosterone levels, are attenuated from either acute or chronic THC.

However, I've never read a study to indicate it's all that robust. One study on monkeys even showed that shortly after THC ingestion there was like a 60ish% decrease in test levels. That's really not that much seeing as how your normal levels of testosterone fluctuate more than that in a circadian fashion.
Moreover, testosterone levels within the physiologically normal range won't have differential effects on muscle building or fat loss proclivity. It's simply not robust enough to be that significant like you're suggesting.

Interestingly, thc/cannabis in general greatly increases libido despite the test decrease. Could be due to an increase in dopamine secretion from the VTA and attenuation in prolactin.
