ppl just trolling.

I'm about to buy a belt myself, but from what I hear, it's normal that it hurts at first. It's the same with how you had to get your upper body used to the roughness/weight of the bar when doing squats.

I squat 3 times a week and deadlift 2 times, my lower back needs a little break from all that lifting

not sure why people bitch on using a belt it's useful to me

if youre doing more lifting than your back can handle that should tell you something..

1. bring your volume down
2. correct your form
3. check your ego and bring the weight down
4. combination of all

i do big compound lifts 4-5 times a week and never have back issues.

its like people using wraps to do deadlifts.... its like, if you cant hang onto the weight then you shouldnt be lifting it.

you put a cast on a certain part of your body and it can never grow properly.

like i said before... if your wearing a belt, wrist wraps, etc. for a maxout lift or a last few reps because your tiring out and you wanna prevent injury thats fine, but if youre wearing it through a whole squat or deadlift routine (which i assume you are since its giving you marks on your stomach, i assume thats not from 3-5 reps) then thats the real problem.

i dont understand your original post tho, your belt and shirt are chaffing your skin.. whats wrong with that lol? just get a different belt that doesnt rub like that.. or just wait it out and your skin will probably get used to it imo.

The form and weights are fine, I don't put the belt throughout the whole workout either, maybe just the volume yes, my body is not entirely used to squatting 15 heavy sets of 5 per week.

For example today I started with squats and did whole warm up without belt and used belt from set 3 to 5 for 295x5

then did deadlifts

135x10
185x10
225x5
275x5
315x5
365x3
390x5 (used belt here)

All I wanted to know is if I should be worried about the stretches the belt is causing, idk why the thread turned towards why I used a belt :p nonetheless, thanks for the post I appreciate it

ooooooooooo ok then ya belt obvi fine... i assumed since u were getting marks u were once of those kids using it from 135 -> 305 or whatever. my bad.

im looking at the picture its giving u like stretch marks?

i cant assume a belt could do any serious damage o.O or ive never heard of anyone having a real problem from 1?

yeah, before I had a cheap belt and it was fine but didn't get the job done quite as good as this one obviously, that's the first thick "powerlifting" belt I use

i'm also scared it fucks up my stomach lmao I don't want it to shape like this

But now maybe I'm just paranoid:D

Might just be the positioning that don't work well with how you lift.

Lowbar/highbar for squats often needs some adjustment.
Conventional/sumo/''explosive'' deadlift in the same way.

I don't have a belt yet, but once I do I think I'll probably toss it on at my last warm up set around 385 or so and keep it on during my working sets. Not sure yet though as I don't own one. Depending on reps maybe I'll only wear it on the final sets (I run mostly 5x5). Excited to try one though!

It's a new belt, it's because it's not broken in (just my personal opinion).

no reason to be worried, it's a minor injury

just try a different belt, or try wearing it differently
